It seems that today, more and more people, from housewives, to professionals are seeking work at home positions.
Everyone wants to spend more quality time raising children. Home schooling is on the rise. Broadband Internet has enabled programmers and analysts to stay home and be productive.
We have experience with Oracle Programmers who worked with former computer giant Compaq (now Hewlett Packard) that are encouraged to find ways to stay home, yet be productive. The trend is that personnel not required to deliver personal service direct to clients are being told to shift to the home worker model. This reduces the overhead of expensive and often unnecessary overhead to the employer, lost time commuting for the employee, and fosters a sense of well being within the corporate structure.
Of course, not every job is suitable for work at home type programs. But it is unlikely that my generation will see another shift in corporate mentality as radical in thought as the migration towards the work at home model.
